A minimum of 300dpi for printing.
You may come across different printers which print different sizes, Dayfold only print to the size B2. Obvious, but keep photos for photoshop and do not send PSDs to a printer put it in InDesign. Make sure you package to give printers everything. It is your job to mark the cutter guide, whether this be a different colour or point size. Dotted line for score and then straight for a cut.
Spot colour is a separate colour out of the CMYK print process so this will be added. The precision will come from the spot colour, so that the print is unique and precise. This may be specific to a particular company, such as Vodafone red.
Actual pixels is the 72dpi that is imported. If you Enlarge that is then the effective pixels which will affect the quality. If it is decrease in size the quality can be enhanced.
Proof, this is the quality and accuracy of your work, for example spelling mistakes and image mistakes which means you need to proof read. If you sign off a proof that hasn’t been read it could cost.
Tip: Get the client to sign the proof then liability is on them and it may not cost you.
PDFs are not great for colour and may be different on their computers down at the printers.
inkjet proof is often free but lacks quality. A digital contact proof is one which costs a bit and it then is a contract and an assurance that they will meet that colour within reason.
Coated- clay or chalk coating matt finish, ink sits on top.
Uncoated- no clay or chalk glossy and shinny finish, ink is aborbed
You pay for what you get, quality will be lacking if you pay less, in most circumstances. Quote for this quality, 10-20% of the job for the printer.

Double check any quotes and adjustments in terms of foiling and adjustments to artwork will cost you.

Some very nice brochures and booklet with different printing techniques. I will definitely take good consideration in the quality of paper I use in my magazine.
