Morag Myerscough
A fantastic insight into the works of a successful designer.
I recently went along to a Morag Myerscough lecture, which was well worth listening to. Myerscough is a british designer who was brought up in London. I have to say I hadn’t heard of here name but as the lecture went on I began to see designs I had come across before. She works predominantly as a ‘placemaker’ which is almost a title for installation/concept design. She’s has exhibited and produced work for all sorts of clients, from LCC to Formula 1.
Her work shouts at you in various ways, sometimes through colour, bright neons and other times through Typography. Very much a collaborator she works with a collective group of professions, skilled in areas like architecture and concept design to produce stunning and functional design. Having been commissioned on many occasions to produce wayfinding and signage for schools and exhibitions. A few commissions have come from renowned photographers and illustrators such as Alan Aldridge. Her designs have been recognised throughout the design industry having won accolades for her work.
An influential talk it has be said, which gave me an insight into the working process and possibilities within design. Some great visuals for inspiration as well throughout. Well worth a look.
